The 3D office
The Office shows your company as a round building: your office in the middle and one island per department round it. Every desk shows who is working, waiting or stuck, from the same live records as the rest of Royak.

The floor at a glance#
You look at the building from one corner. Your office stands on a round hub in the middle, and each department is an open island round it, joined to the hub by its own walkway. Islands stand in your departments’ order, and a new department gets its own island. Past 12 departments, the islands stand in districts along avenues that run out from the hub.
- The top bar: how fresh the view is, Hide Needs you (or Hide inspector while someone is selected) and Assign task.
- The toolbar: Floor and List, the Working · N menu, and the Show connections switch.
- The floor itself, with the day’s sentence and Brief me at its top left and Pause the company at its foot.
- Needs you and Just did beside the floor. Select an employee and their inspector takes that place.
What each thing on the floor means#
| You see… | It means |
|---|---|
| Someone typing at a blue screen, with a speech bubble | Working. The bubble says the current step in words, such as “Reading 14 receipt emails in Gmail”. |
| Someone standing outside your office under an amber column | They need you. ! asks for an approval, ? asks a question. A dashed amber trail leads back to their empty desk. |
| A clock over their head | Queued: their work waits to start. |
| Two bars over their head | Paused, by you or with the company. |
| A red cross, someone slumped at their desk | Their last task failed. Open it to read why. |
| A hatched ring round someone, “Outside content” under the bubble | Their work read email, web pages or files you didn’t write. Anything it sends outside waits for your approval. |
| An outline desk and chair | An employee you haven’t activated yet. |
| A dashed, empty island with proposed by Chat | A department Chat proposed that you haven’t confirmed. It grants nothing; select it to open the proposal. |
Idle, draft and finished employees have no marker. Bubbles fold to a spinner when they would crowd each other; point at one to read it. Zoomed out, every bubble folds and each desk’s floor glows in its status colour.
The floor also plays moments from the last 30 seconds of records: when you approve a request, a ripple leaves your office and the employee walks back to work; when one task starts with a colleague’s finished deliverable, a chip naming it travels between their desks.
Department cards#
Each island has a card pinned to its far side: the department’s colour, name and head count, its people counted by status (“1 needs decision”, “2 working”), and this month’s spend against the department’s own limit (“$548.00 of $2,300.00 · this month”, or “no own limit”). The bar turns to the warning colour from 80%.
At its limit, or while a task asks to raise it, the card gets an amber edge, “At limit · N waiting” and Raise limit, which opens the request or the department’s limits in Usage. Select a card to look into the room.
Zoomed out, or with many departments, cards fold to small chips with the count that matters most: what needs you, then failures, then who is working. On a narrow screen every card is a chip until you tap it.
Connections in use#
While Show connections is on, every app your employees use right now stands outside the rooms, with one card: its logo, name and how many use it and how, such as “3 using it · 2 writing, 1 reading”. Company knowledge is the bookcase behind your office. Lines run from the desks using an app round to it:
| Line | Means |
|---|---|
| Pointing in | Reading from the app. |
| Pointing out | Writing to the app. |
| Dashed | Waiting for you, or queued. |
| Coral, with a notched plate at the gate | A call failed: the connection may need reconnecting. |
With nobody selected, Live connections at the top right lists every use, what needs you first; Manage connections opens Connections. Select an employee to see only their lines, and All flows to see everyone’s again. Turn the switch off to hide them all.
The day, Needs you and Just did#
At the top left, one sentence sums up the day from your records, such as “Since midnight your employees finished 6 tasks and spent $4.20. 2 things need you.” Brief me opens Chat with that question ready to send.
Needs you lists what waits for you, the most urgent open: who asks, how long ago, what they want done and what deciding changes, with the buttons to decide it right there. Details shows the employee on the floor. Up to five more fold to one line each, then Open Inbox (N). See Needs you and Inbox.
Just did shows your latest eight updates as sentences, such as “Mira Petrova finished “Q4 price list draft”” or “Ivo handed “Supplier price table” to Luka”, each linking to the work.
Moving around#
| To… | Do this |
|---|---|
| Pan | Drag (one finger on a phone) |
| Turn the building | Right-drag sideways, or Rotate left and Rotate right (45° each) |
| Look down more or less steeply | Right-drag up or down |
| Zoom | Scroll or pinch, or the zoom buttons |
| Look at someone | Select them or their desk, or Focus once they are selected |
| Jump to a department | Press 1 to 9, in the order the islands stand |
| See the whole building | Press 0 or Esc, or Reset |
| Switch to the list | Hide 3D, or List in the toolbar |
While you right-drag, the pointer stays where it is and your browser may say so; it comes back when you let go. Working in the toolbar frames the next person at work each time you choose it.
The list view#
Switch Floor to List for the same people and live status as rows, grouped by department with each department’s spend. Each row shows the person’s status and the work it comes from (“Last: …”, a working step, or “No work assigned”), how long that has lasted, and one action: Review an approval, Answer a question, or Assign work to someone idle.
Press J and K to move through the rows and Enter to move into the inspector. Working filters the list to those at work. The list also works where 3D isn’t available.
Phones and smaller screens#
On a phone the floor fills the screen. Show Needs you in the top bar opens a sheet from the bottom with the tabs Needs you and Just did, and selecting someone opens their inspector as a sheet you drag between part and full height. The camera buttons stand in a column at the right. The list shows each person on two lines.
If your device can’t show 3D, the Office opens on the list. If the 3D view fails to load, it says “3D view unavailable” with Retry 3D view and Use employee list.
Questions#
Does the office animation cost anything?
No. The floor only draws your saved records. Nothing on it calls a model.
Why is everyone sitting still?
Nobody has recorded work right now, or the company is paused. The floor moves again as soon as work is recorded.
Does closing the browser stop my employees?
No. Work runs on Royak’s servers. Closing the tab stops nothing; to stop work, pause the company.
Why can’t I see a department on screen?
It may be off to one side. Press its number key, 0 to see the whole building, or use the list.
