Your own AI key

On Paid, add your company’s own Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or xAI key to choose a specific model and to keep working when credits run out. Your provider bills you directly. Free runs on its credits alone.

Before you begin
  • The Paid plan. See Free and Paid.
  • You are the company’s owner: only the owner sees AI models.
  • An API key from your provider’s own console.

Add a key#

Settings › AI models: one card per provider.

    Open Settings → AI models

    It is the only place AI keys are added.

    Choose the provider

    Anthropic (Claude models), OpenAI (GPT models), Google (Gemini models) or xAI (Grok models). Select Add key.

    Check and save

    Paste the key and select Check and save key. Royak checks it with the provider, then the card shows “Key ending …abcd” and Use this key.

Each card’s badge says In use, Not used, Refused or No key, and lists the company’s allowed models from that provider. Later, Replace key or Remove key from the same card.

What runs on your key#

Choose an employee’s model under Model and effort when you hire or edit them. Auto stays available on every plan.

CarefulNothing falls back to another provider or to a key of Royak’s. If your provider refuses your key, calls that need it fail, the card shows Refused, and Model key refused appears in your Inbox. Replace the key to continue.

Where costs show#

Every model call is listed in Usage, under Calls, with Paid with: the plan’s credits or your own key. Calls on your key are billed by your provider at their own prices, with no markup from Royak, and still count against the spending limits you set.

If the company moves to Free, its keys are turned off and kept: turn them on again on Paid, or remove them.

Keeping it safe#

Keys are encrypted, never shown again after saving, and used only for this company. A key never reaches an AI model’s context, the browser, or our logs.

CarefulNever paste a key into Chat. Use Settings → AI models.

Questions#

Do I need a key on Paid?

No. Without one, Auto runs on your monthly credits. A key lets you choose models and keeps work going once credits run out.

Do I need keys for every provider?

No. Add the ones whose models you want. Each chosen model runs only on its own provider’s key.

What happens when credits run out and I have no key?

Employees and Chat wait until the credits renew on the 1st, or until you add a key. See When credits run out.
